Buy a New Cooker, But Don't Get Your Fingers Burnt

!±8± Buy a New Cooker, But Don't Get Your Fingers Burnt

There is an awful lot of choice out there when it comes to cookers and sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. Do you go for gas or electric? A single or double oven? There are many decisions to be made, so the main thing is not to rush in. Do your research, take your time and find a cooker that will suit your kitchen and make it a pleasure to cook delicious meals.

One of the most important things to get right from the off is the size of the space that you have available in your kitchen. Forget design, forget features and forget price. The best looking, most versatile and most expensive cooker in the world will be absolutely useless if it is too big to go in your home. After you have bought a freestanding cooker, the last thing you want is to be faced with the possibility of having to rip apart your kitchen in order to make the thing fit.
If you have access to a gas supply then you'll have to decide whether you want to attach it to your cooker or go with electric. This can come down to personal choice - a gas hob is easier to control than an electric ring, but an electric oven heats up more evenly compared with a gas oven.

Energy efficiency is also something you should consider before purchasing a new oven. Every cooker now has to have a rating between A and G, with A being the most energy efficient and G the least. Having an energy efficient appliance means it will have less of an impact on the planet and if an appliance uses less energy you are going to see savings on your household bills.

The likelihood is you will already have an oven in your home and once you've purchased a new one, you'll have to arrange for the disposal of the first. Luckily, leading online retailers are now happy to organise for your old appliance to be removed and disposed of, meaning the minimum amount of fuss for you.
